As the daughter of an interior designer, I learned at an early
age the value of a well designed and organised living
space. The idea that beautiful furnishings and possessions
should be displayed and stored in ways that enhanced
one’s quality of life was central to the Charles Hammond
interior design ethos and is at the heart of my approach to
helping my clients ensure that the layout and organisation of their home is optimised for the way they live.

I guess you could say that organised living is in my blood. I love to organise! Always have – always will.

It was whilst I was living in the United States, when my children were small, that I learnt that there was such a thing as a personal organiser and that households called on them like they would a painter or a plumber. I noticed that people organised the functional areas of their home as creatively as they did their living spaces. Garages, basements and laundry rooms - all beautifully arranged into places where you wanted to go and knew you would find exactly what you were looking for the first time you looked.

Friends always admired our childrens’ playroom - the way it looked and the way it worked. Each toy or game had a logical home known to the children. It meant they could always find what they were looking for (with all its pieces!) and quickly learnt to respect the system and put things back where they found them and that’s how it all started – I helped people organise their playrooms and from there it has snowballed into every area of the home.
